Welcome to floodmap.org, a website that synthesizes all the information about FloodMap, a two-dimensional flood modelling tool developed by Dapeng Yu, Department of Geography, Loughborough University, UK. It is a light-weight flood modelling tool with an intuitive user interface and allows dynamic visualization of flooding process during model run. It requires minimum pre-processing as it takes input topography in the format of a regular grid which is increasingly becoming available. It has been developed to allow simulation over larger spatial and temporal domain, through parallelisation and optimization. Benchmarking with other models suggest good prediction accuracy can be achieved. The model has been extensively applied to various environments (e.g. UK, China, Spain, Turkey and Thailand) and applications have been reported by academic publications.
